Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival

Celebrating the town's title as the "Pumpkin Capital of the World," this festival features a variety of pumpkin-themed activities, including the Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off, where growers compete with enormous pumpkins. Attendees can enjoy arts and crafts, live music, a parade, and a variety of pumpkin-infused foods and beverages. 

Mavericks Surf Competition

This renowned big-wave surfing event draws elite surfers from around the globe to tackle some of the most formidable waves. The competition is scheduled with only 48 hours' notice to ensure peak wave conditions, making it a thrilling and unpredictable spectacle. 

Ol' Fashioned 4th of July Parade

This patriotic parade showcases a variety of floats, marching bands, equestrian units, and classic cars, embodying the charm of small-town America. It's a family-friendly event that brings the community together to celebrate Independence Day.

Area Attractions

Half Moon Bay State Beach

A series of sandy beaches ideal for sunbathing, picnicking, and fishing. The Coastal Trail runs parallel to the beach, offering scenic walks and biking opportunities.  

Pillar Point Harbor

A bustling marina where visitors can enjoy fresh seafood, embark on fishing charters, or simply watch the boats. It's also the gateway to the famous Mavericks surf spot.  

Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve

 This preserve offers over 21 miles of trails through towering redwood forests, making it perfect for hiking and nature appreciation.  

Fitzgerald Marine Reserve

Located in nearby Moss Beach, this reserve is renowned for its tide pools teeming with marine life, including sea stars, crabs, and mollusks.  

Pescadero State Beach
