Rock the South Music Festival
This is Cullman’s largest music festival and perhaps the biggest party in the South. Every July, it brings top-tier country and Southern artists to town and draws huge crowds.
Cullman Alabama Strawberry Festival
Dating back to the 1930s, this beloved festival not only celebrates delicious strawberries but is also Alabama’s official state strawberry festival. It’s held annually in downtown Cullman (Depot Park), usually in late April, and features live music, over 80 vendors, family fun, and local charm.
Smith Lake Park Sweet Tater Festival
This one-of-a-kind local festival celebrates the sweet potato with two days of southern hospitality. Scheduled for Labor Day weekend at Smith Lake Park, this event features live entertainment, food vendors, arts & crafts, and even a car show on Monday.

Ave Maria Grotto
A truly magical spot, the Ave Maria Grotto is affectionately known as “Jerusalem in Miniature.” Located within St. Bernard Abbey, this 4-acre landscaped park features 125 intricately detailed miniature replicas of globally renowned religious buildings, all crafted by Brother Joseph Zoettl over decades.
Sportsman Lake Park
A family-friendly recreational hub right in the heart of Cullman. The park offers paddle boating, a playground, walking trails, mini-golf, a splash pad, and a charming train ride around the lake—perfect for a relaxing afternoon outdoors.
WildWater Cullman
For water-lovers and thrill-seekers, WildWater is the place to go. This modern water park boasts a massive wave pool, numerous exciting slides, a drift river, and a splash area geared toward younger visitors—fun for the whole family.
Clarkson Covered Bridge (Clarkson–Legg Covered Bridge)
Step into history at one of Alabama’s longest surviving covered bridges—built in 1904, restored, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Located about 8 miles west of Cullman, the park includes walking trails, a gristmill, a log cabin, and hosts annual community events like Old-Fashioned Days
Cullman County Museum
Housed in a replica of city founder Col. John G. Cullmann’s home, this museum offers immersive exhibits on Native American history, German settlement, Civil War events, and life in early Cullman—plus unique items like Big Jim Folsom’s oversized shoes and local Americana memorabilia.
Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament & St. Bernard Abbey
Just outside Cullman in Hanceville, the Shrine is a peaceful Romanesque–Gothic complex, home to a monastery of Discalced Carmelite nuns, a castle-like church, and one of the largest religious gift shops in the South. It’s open to visitors of all faiths and beautifully serene.
